 Frequently Asked Questions

Are these aesthetic or health treatments?

Both. The signature facial treatments are for wellbeing & facial rejuvenation in one session. I also offer stand-alone nourishing acupuncture treatments for general wellbeing.

How frequently do you recommend I see you?

For general wellbeing, you can see me as often or as rarely as you find it beneficial.

For the facial rejuvenation treatments, I recommend once or twice a month. The most important thing is consistency, due to the cumulative nature of the treatments. However, I have some clients seeing me only a few times a year, and they also enjoy the transformative outcome of the sessions.

Is acupuncture painful?

Due to the use of ultra fine thread-like acupuncture needles, all you will feel is a slight pinch or nothing at all. If there is a little more sensation involved, this is often due to a stressful life or underlying inflammation. You will receive lifestyle and nutritional advice to address these.

Are there any risks with facial acupuncture?

Facial acupuncture is a very gentle treatment and I will carefully assess your health and face prior to proceeding or before recommending a course of therapy.

How quickly will I notice results from facial treatment?

You will notice results right after the first session. However, for more deep-seated facial issues you need several sessions to experience a noticeable shift.

What if I am needle-phobic?

I offer many options for those who prefer not to receive acupuncture. Tuning fork therapy and gua sha facial massage are great alternatives. I often combine the two for optimal results.

Does facial acupuncture leave any marks?

Very rarely. In some less common cases there may be slight, superficial bruising on the face. Please let me know if you are attending an event the same day. To minimise the possibility of bruising I advise that you don’t eat sweets or biscuits for at least 24 hours before the treatment.

Is there anything I need to do prior to the treatment?

Please try to avoid eating sweets 24 hours before your treatment, especially if you have a tendency to bruise easily. I recommend being well hydrated before and after the treatment. For a few hours afterwards, try to avoid direct strong sun exposure and take it easy.
